Accion Andina project
FORESTA: Project to Promote the Restoration and Conservation of Polylepis Forests in Ecuador.
In 2019, Aves y Conservación joined the Acción Andina Program to assist in the restoration of Polylepis forests in Ecuador, which have lost 90% of their natural cover. We focus on this ecosystem due to its ecological importance for the conservation of threatened birds, the strong pressure these ecosystems face, their role in water catchment, their slow growth, and the low natural dispersion rate characteristic of these forests.
